Office Hours

The ILR office staff is located in Room 103 of the  Princess Anne Building (A).

NOTE:  ILR classes take place nearby in Pungo Building (F).

Currently our office is staffed Wednesdays, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Contact office for full schedule.

The office is closed for TCC holidays and closings of the Virginia Beach campus due to emergencies such as inclement weather.  Refer to local news for TCC weather closing information. 

Class Registration Policies

Members register for classes using the registration form included in the quarterly schedule or printed from this website.  No registrations are taken over the phone. 

On the registration form you will indicate the classes you wish to attend, calculate the total costs of classes and special events, and return the form and check to the ILR office.

Online registration is available and encouraged.  The date that Online registration begins will be posted on the website.  

The staff processes registration forms in the order received in the ILR office. 


A wait list is maintained for all classes, social and travel events when the registrations exceed the program's capacity.  The wait list is based on the principle of “first listed, first served.”


Make sure your forms are complete and accurate when submitted.  Incomplete forms will delay your reservations for classes and events.


Members always have priority to attend our functions.  Guests are welcome if space is available.  Call the office to check. The applicable class or activity fee must be paid for the guest.

Class Cancellation Policies


If a member cancels a class at least 4 working days in advance, he or she will receive a refund check, minus a $2 administrative fee. The fee will be waived if the member chooses to transfer payment to another class or hold as an account credit.
If a member cancels a trip or social event, the cancellation will be processed as described in the event cancellation policy stated on the trip disclosure form or social event flyer.


If ILR cancels a class, the registered members will receive a full refund check.
If ILR cancels a trip or social event, the process will follow the cancellation policy as stated on the trip disclosure form or social event flyer.

All refunds will be via check from ILR's bill pay system. Check will be sent to member directly from bank. Allow two weeks to receive refund.

Weather Closings

ILR works on the TCC schedule.   ILR must cancel events held at the TCC Virginia Beach campus when the college is closed.

Check local radio and TV stations (3, 10, and 13).

Check the ILR home page.  If at all possible, we will update it to indicate program cancellations.


If TCC has a 2-hour delayed opening, any ILR morning class is cancelled.  Afternoon classes will go on, unless we notify members by phone and/or email.

If TCC must close at 2pm, the afternoon classes are cancelled.

Name Tags

A name tag is issued to all members.  We request that you wear it to all class meetings and special events.  It is useful for meeting new friends. You may fill out the back of the card indicating any health information in the event of an emergency.
